Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, called Ukraine's new attacks on Russian oil refineries shameful and emphasized that these actions would only lead to an increase in global oil prices. These remarks came after the recent attack by Ukrainian forces on the refinery facilities of Rosneft in Ryazan.
Impact of Attacks on Global Oil Prices
In an interview, Trump said: “It only causes the global oil prices to rise. This is really shameful.” He added that the refineries being attacked produce diesel, which is in global demand. The former president criticized Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, stating: “They have destroyed the country” and it seems that this issue is causing more tensions between Zelensky and his largest financial supporter, the United States.

Ceasefire and Ongoing Tensions
Ukrainian forces halted attacks on oil refineries earlier this week after Trump announced that an agreement for a ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow had been reached. However, neither side confirmed that a ceasefire agreement had been made, and Russian forces continued their targets in Ukraine. Zelensky, in an interview with an international media outlet, stated: “The block has exited. We are done.” These remarks came after a drone attack on the Ryazan refinery. This facility accounts for 5 percent of Russia's total oil refining capacity.
The continuation of attacks on refineries will undoubtedly exacerbate existing problems in global fuel supply, especially regarding diesel. To change this situation, the end of both wars seems essential. Trump commented on the prospects for peace between Russia and Ukraine, saying: “It needs to end as soon as possible. I think they both really want it to end,” but added that “I find Zelensky more difficult than Putin.”
