The Acting Minister of Oil, Javad Owji, began intensive negotiations with Russian officials during his recent trip to Moscow. These negotiations aimed to examine and expand oil and gas cooperation between Iran and Russia and were conducted to strengthen bilateral relations in the energy sector.

Details of the Negotiations

In this meeting, Owji referred to the high capacities of Iran's oil and gas fields and called for further cooperation in the extraction and development of joint fields. The South Pars and Azadegan oil fields were discussed as two strategic fields in these negotiations. The South Pars field, with a daily production capacity of 700 million cubic meters of natural gas, is considered one of the largest gas fields in the world.

Consequences of Oil Cooperation

Joint cooperation in the oil and gas sector can lead to increased national revenues and strengthened energy security in both countries. Additionally, this cooperation can help transfer modern technologies in the oil and gas industry. It is expected that by strengthening these relations, Iran can increase its share in global oil and gas markets.

The Acting Minister of Oil also referred to the development of infrastructure related to gas and oil transportation and emphasized the importance of these infrastructures for achieving common goals. Given the diversity of energy resources in both countries, these negotiations could facilitate larger projects in energy transfer.

Finally, Javad Owji emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the oil and gas industry during this trip and announced that Iran seeks to establish sustainable and long-term relations with neighboring countries and the world's major oil and gas producers.
