Equinor Norway and its partners, Petoro and TotalEnergies, announced on Wednesday (October 14) the discovery of new oil and gas reserves near the "Oseberg" field in the North Sea. This new discovery is particularly located in the "Grimsnes" field, which is estimated to have reserves between 19 and 50 million barrels of oil equivalent.

The discovered reserves in the Oseberg area are located approximately 145 kilometers (90 miles) west of the city of Bergen and close to Equinor's managed fields, namely "Oseberg South" and "Tyr." Development Plan for the Grimsnes Field
Equinor has stated its intention to quickly implement the development plan for the Grimsnes field using existing infrastructure. Frude Oskarstein, Equinor's Senior Vice President, stated in a press release: "We intend to rapidly connect this new field to the existing subsea facilities and carry out production through the Oseberg South platform." This action could help extend the life of older oil and gas fields in the region.
Equinor has also planned to collaborate with its partners to make investment decisions for this project by next summer and to commence production operations within three years. This initiative could significantly strengthen Norway's position in the global oil and gas market.
