The Azadegan oil field, which is considered the largest oil field in the country, has been selected as one of the 20 major driving and revenue-generating projects of the country. This field is located in the west of Khuzestan province, near the Iran-Iraq border, and due to its large oil reserves and border location, it holds strategic importance.
Development of Azadegan Field
Mehdi Heydari, the head of the Organization for Investment and Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran, stated regarding the development of the Azadegan field: "The development of this field began four months ago, and fortunately, positive events have occurred during this time. Significant progress has been observed in various areas of this project."

The Azadegan field is divided into two sections: North Azadegan and South Azadegan, and due to its shared nature with Iraq, accelerating its development has always been a priority for the National Iranian Oil Company. The implementation of the integrated development plan for the Azadegan field, aimed at increasing production capacity, developing wells, constructing surface facilities, and completing oil collection and processing infrastructure, has been pursued in recent years.
Financial Supply Plans and Diverse Projects
Heydari also stated that necessary coordination for financing 20 major projects in the country is underway, and these projects are not limited to the oil and gas sector. Logistics projects, solar power plants, information and communication technology (ICT), and other related projects are also included in this collection, and our colleagues are working towards their implementation.
The development of the Azadegan oil field as a strategic project in Iran's oil industry will significantly contribute to increasing oil production and improving the country's economic situation. Given the actions taken and proper planning, it is expected that this field will become one of the important sources of revenue generation.
