The nominal oil processing capacity at the South Azadegan Oil Processing Center (CTEP) has increased to 320,000 barrels per day. This unit, as the largest central processing unit in the country, is considered one of the vital infrastructures of the National Iranian Oil Company in the West Karun fields.
CTEP's Key Role in the Development of West Karun
The South Azadegan Oil Processing Center was designed and implemented to create sustainable capacity for processing and transferring crude oil from the South Azadegan field and other neighboring fields. This project acts as a connecting link between production and development phases in West Karun and has a significant impact on achieving sustainable and responsible oil production from shared fields.

With the launch of four oil lines at this center, the oil processing capacity has reached 320,000 barrels per day. The third oil line was launched on March 19, 2025, and reached stable production on May 13, 2025. Additionally, the fourth line was launched on December 21, 2025, and reached stable production on December 25.
Economic and Technical Impacts of the Project
With the completion of the construction phases of the first and second lines of this processing center, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities have begun. Ultimately, with the approval of a four-day production halt and the integration of control and safety systems, the oil processing capacity reached 320,000 barrels per day. This achievement is the result of collaboration and coordination among the project execution teams and contractors.
Hamid Reza Taghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, announced that the overall progress of the project has surpassed 80%. Furthermore, with the completion of the gas-related units, the possibility of sending 200 million standard cubic feet of associated gas daily to NGL3200 has been provided.
In conclusion, the South Azadegan Oil Processing Center, as one of the key infrastructures for the development of West Karun, will play an important role in the transfer, processing, and stabilization of oil in this region and can also facilitate increased production from other fields in West Karun.
