Smart pigging operations on pipelines G and H in the Khanguiran operational area are being conducted to protect the gas transmission lines and enhance their integrity management. Hossein Valeh, the Technical Inspection Manager of the East Oil and Gas Operating Company, announced that this project will provide accurate information about the technical status of the lines and their potential defects.

Details of the Pigging Operations

Valeh, referring to the actions taken in previous years, stated: Previously, smart pigging operations on the main gas transmission line (trunk line) of Gonbadli and trunk lines A to F of the measurement center, approximately 100 kilometers long, were completed. Currently, smart pigging of trunk lines G and H, totaling 20 kilometers, is underway.

This operation, which identifies and assesses potential defects along the pipelines and provides valuable information for decision-making regarding the prioritization of repairs and preventive maintenance, will help increase the reliability of the facilities and reduce operational risks.

The Role of the Khanguiran Operational Area in Gas Production

The Khanguiran operational area is considered one of the key gas production regions in the country. This area is responsible for supplying gas to the provinces of Razavi Khorasan, North Khorasan, South Khorasan, Semnan, Mazandaran, and Golestan. With an area of over 440,000 square kilometers and diverse mountainous and desert climatic conditions, this region plays a significant role in ensuring sustainable energy supply in the north and northeast of the country.

The implementation of this pigging operation not only contributes to improving the quality and reliability of gas transmission lines but also leads to better integrity management in gas facilities. The information obtained from this operation will serve as the basis for planning targeted maintenance and repairs of the lines.
