Mohammad Sadegh Azimi Far, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, announced at a press conference today (Tuesday, October 6) that diesel consumption in the country has decreased by about 6 percent compared to the year 1403. This reduction in consumption indicates the success of the implemented plans aimed at optimizing fuel consumption.

Reduction in Gasoline Consumption and Fuel Optimization

Azimi Far also stated that during the implementation period of the plan, gasoline consumption has also decreased by about 3 percent compared to last year. He emphasized that with gradual and step-by-step reforms, it is possible to effectively reduce fuel consumption and also steer consumer behavior towards the use of alternative fuels.

Consumption Management and Fuel Storage Conditions

The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company continued about the conditions of fuel storage for power plants, saying: "Given the intensified gas imbalance this winter due to damage to gas facilities, supplying liquid fuel to power plants will be one of the sustainable solutions for the country's electricity network in the cold season." He emphasized the importance of proper storage of diesel for power plants and collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, adding: "We hope to successfully get through this winter with the implementation of various plans."

Azimi Far also referred to the challenges related to emergency cards at fuel stations and added: "Currently, about 40 percent of the country's gasoline consumption is done using emergency cards, which brings problems such as lack of transparency in refueling." He emphasized that new plans are being implemented to solve these problems, which are being pursued on an experimental basis.

The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company concluded by mentioning the experience of using license plate recognition cameras, stating: "By using smart tools, deviations can be identified and prevented." He also discussed the price differences of fuel inside the country and neighboring countries, stating that if subsidized fuel is diverted, it can impact the country's financial resources.
