Alfa Laval AB set a new record for order registrations in the third quarter of 2026, reaching 23.23 billion Swedish Krona (SEK), which represents a 36 percent increase compared to the previous year. This remarkable growth is due to strong demand from data centers, shipbuilding, and biofuels, although the company expects activities in the final quarter of the year to decline slightly.
Increase in Sales and Net Income
The company's net sales also increased by 8 percent to 18.60 billion Swedish Krona. However, net income reached 2.26 billion Swedish Krona, showing a 2 percent decrease compared to the previous year, and earnings per share decreased from 5.53 Krona to 5.40 Krona.
Growth in the Energy Sector and Demand from Data Centers
The natural growth of order registrations reached 33 percent, and natural sales also showed a 6 percent increase. By the end of September, the order book reached 59.5 billion Swedish Krona, up from 48.3 billion Krona at the end of 2025, indicating promising future deliveries.
The energy sector has benefited from ongoing expansion in data centers and semiconductors, particularly in North America and Asia. Additionally, improvements in heat pumps and sustained demand for air conditioning have led to a 41 percent increase in order registrations to 7.7 billion Swedish Krona and a 33 percent increase in net sales to 6.7 billion Swedish Krona.
Expectations for Future Years
Alfa Laval announced that orders from data centers are rapidly approaching 7 to 8 billion Swedish Krona annually, with the United States accounting for the largest volume and growth, and clear growth also observed in China.
Strong demand and an increasing order book have prompted the company to raise its capital expenditure forecast for 2027 and 2028 to around 4 billion Swedish Krona per year, with plans for significant investments in the energy sector.
However, the company expects demand in the fourth quarter to be slightly lower than in the third quarter, following two consecutive quarters of record order registrations. The company's management stated that global market conditions are likely to remain favorable in the near future.
