Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India's largest integrated transport and logistics company, established a new branch named Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal in Oman on October 21, 2023. This move aims to strengthen the company's position as a global integrated transport operator.

Details of the New Branch Establishment

The new branch has been established locally to carry out APSEZ's maritime operations and is wholly owned by Adani International Ports Holdings Pte Ltd, which is itself a wholly-owned subsidiary of APSEZ. This structure means that the Indian Ocean Gateway Terminal is recognized as a subsidiary of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd.

The initial investment for this branch is 500,000 Omani Rials (approximately $1.3 million), which includes 100 shares valued at 5,000 Omani Rials each, all held by Adani International Ports Holdings.

Global Expansion Strategy

The establishment of this branch in Oman is part of APSEZ's broader strategy to create a diverse global business platform and expand the company's international footprint in key global markets. APSEZ is currently the largest integrated transport operator in India and one of the fastest-growing companies in this industry globally.

With a network of 20 ports and terminals, including 16 strategic ports in India and four international ports in Israel, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, and Australia, APSEZ plays a vital role in connecting businesses, markets, and global trade routes. The company manages approximately 27% of the country's cargo volume in India and aims to reach a port capacity of 1 billion tons by 2030, up from the current capacity of 671 million tons.

With its advanced infrastructure, the company handles a wide range of goods, including dry cargo, liquids, crude oil, containers, and breakbulk, while also accommodating some of the largest vessels in the region.
