ZERO44, the marine emissions compliance platform, has introduced its new Carbon Insetting module as the first industry software that combines legal compliance and carbon decision-making in a single solution. This module enables operators to sell emission reductions from the use of low-carbon fuels directly to cargo owners who are looking to reduce their Scope 3 emissions.
Facilitating the Compliance Process
Carbon Insetting allows operators to recoup part of their investment in low-carbon fuels from specific customers who benefit from it. This approach is commonly practiced in the container transport and bulk cargo sectors. Additionally, this module helps operators separate the volumes related to insetting from the volumes used for compliance without the need for manual tracking.
Reducing Manual Work with the New Module
The ZERO44 Carbon Insetting module eliminates all manual tasks. This module is designed based on data available in fuel delivery invoices and sustainability documents that operators use for reporting. This system allows operators to automatically calculate the value of each volume of fuel and use it for compliance with FuelEU objectives.
By allocating a volume to insetting, ZERO44 automatically deducts it from the ship's FuelEU compliance balance. This way, the additional amount that needs to be released will always be correct at the time of reporting. The baseline data can be sent directly to the operator's registration, eliminating duplicate data entry between systems.
