The United States and Yemen's Ansarullah met in Oman to discuss the 2025 ceasefire brokered by Oman. This meeting followed the escalation of the oil crisis in Saudi Arabia and repeated attacks on the country's oil facilities.
Saudi Oil Crisis and Its Impact on the Region
Saudi Arabia is currently facing serious economic problems. With recent attacks by an Iraqi militia on the country's oil pipelines, the capacity to transport oil through the East-West pipeline has drastically decreased. This pipeline, which has a daily capacity of 5 million barrels of oil, has faced severe reductions following these attacks, and Saudi Arabia is currently trying to manage this crisis with an $8 billion loan from commercial investors.

Additionally, Saudi oil exports have been significantly affected by Iranian missile attacks. These attacks have led to a decrease in oil revenue and jeopardized Saudi Arabia's economic security, forcing Saudi officials to negotiate with other countries for their air security.
Diplomatic Talks and the Status of Ansarullah
In this meeting, Ansarullah assured U.S. officials that it would adhere to the 2025 ceasefire and would only attack Saudi forces entering the Red Sea. This agreement is particularly important for preventing an escalation of conflicts in the region. Furthermore, 80 percent of Yemen's population is under Ansarullah's control, and this group has strengthened its strategic position by seizing the western coastal strip of Yemen.
Saudi Arabia, which seeks to weaken Ansarullah, faces serious obstacles in this path. After attacking the airport in Yemen's capital, it has encountered retaliatory attacks from Ansarullah, leading to a significant increase in tensions in the region.
