The U.S. government is examining the status of diesel exports, and according to Donald Trump, the President of the United States, this ban may have a negative impact on gas prices. Trump announced at a press conference in the Oval Office that discussions about the pros and cons of this ban are taking place daily, but it seems that this action could negatively affect gas prices.

Challenges in Gas and Diesel Pricing

Analysts at Goldman Sachs have also recently warned that if the diesel export ban is implemented, domestic gas prices may rise. These analysts pointed out that if processing rates at refineries decrease, gas prices in the United States will be significantly affected. Currently, the average gas price in the United States has reached $4.43 per gallon, up from $4.08 last month and $3.15 on the same day last year.

Factors Affecting Fuel Prices

The recent increase in fuel prices is due to rising crude oil prices and a global fuel shortage. Currently, gas prices in the United States are at their highest level for this time of year, while demand has decreased due to the end of the peak driving season. Diesel prices have also reached new highs due to refinery constraints in the Middle East and Russia.

Refinery capacity in the Middle East is under pressure due to Iranian attacks on refineries and also serious restrictions in Russia due to drone attacks in Ukraine. As a result, refineries in the United States have been unable to compensate for the shortages. Russia has also extended its diesel export ban until October 31.
