The supply of diesel and jet fuel in Europe is under significant pressure, while the European Commission has assured that there is no physical shortage of these products. These statements come at a time when global markets are facing multiple challenges in fuel supply.

Current Fuel Market Situation

The supply of diesel and jet fuel in Europe, despite apparent stability, is facing many challenges. Given the increase in demand due to economic activities and also supply chain issues stemming from geopolitical tensions, the supply of these products has been challenged. For example, in recent months, jet fuel prices have significantly increased, averaging $2500 per ton.

Factors Affecting Supply

Several factors have influenced the supply situation of diesel and jet fuel. On one hand, reduced production in some oil fields and on the other hand, increased demand due to a return to normal life after health crises have put additional pressure on the market. For instance, the Norse oil field in the North Sea, which is one of the main sources of diesel supply in Europe, has faced a 15% reduction in production. Meanwhile, the production capacity of this field reaches 100,000 barrels per day.

The European Commission has emphasized in a statement that despite existing limitations, necessary measures have been taken to prevent any physical shortages. These measures include optimal resource management and planning for fuel supply from other markets, especially from the Middle East and the United States.

However, experts believe that the current situation is only manageable due to the immediate measures of the European Commission, and if supply chain problems continue, we may face more serious shortages in the near future. This could lead to price increases and consequently have a negative impact on various industries.
