The CEO of Iraq's Oil Tanker Company announced that the country has successfully passed two million barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz. This action takes place as American warships, including the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt and the amphibious assault ship Makin Island, along with thousands of fresh troops, have been deployed to the Middle East.
U.S. Military Movements in the Region
Seven months into the war between the United States and the Islamic Republic, U.S. military movements in the region indicate preparations for a new phase of hostilities. Unannounced meetings of senior U.S. national security officials and the deployment of approximately 9,000 new troops to the Middle East suggest that military options are once again at the forefront of Washington's calculations.

Increase of Military Forces and Readiness in the Persian Gulf
The carrier strike group Theodore Roosevelt and the Makin Island amphibious readiness group are moving towards the Middle East. These deployments include about 7,000 sailors and 2,000 Marines. Additionally, the George H.W. Bush and George Washington ships are also present in the region. This military composition could allow the U.S. to have three carrier strike groups and two amphibious readiness groups simultaneously in the area.
Pentagon planning may involve nearly 20,000 forces related to this naval arrangement, 150 fighter jets, and several missile-equipped destroyers. However, these movements may be due to the replacement of existing forces in the region and cannot alone be interpreted as a decision to attack, but the increase in readiness is significant.
Challenges Facing the Islamic Republic
The Strait of Hormuz, as a vital chokepoint, remains under threat. However, the development of alternative routes and increased use of pipelines could reduce the threat of disruption in this area. At the same time, the missile and drone capabilities of the Islamic Republic remain a threat to shipping. Additionally, the U.S. has deployed two more Patriot systems to protect the oil and gas infrastructure of Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The increasing economic pressure on the Islamic Republic and the failure of negotiations to create a diplomatic solution have complicated the situation for this country. In this context, Trump is seeking to resume military operations against Iran, which is likely to have a significant impact on the energy market.
