Alireza Zakani, the Mayor of Tehran, is striving to create better conditions for those seeking to buy or rent housing by introducing a new program for housing provision in the capital. This plan is designed to prevent excessive price increases and to create greater accessibility for the people.
Targeting Housing Purchases at Real Prices
According to this program, Tehran Municipality intends to enable people to purchase housing at expert and real prices by utilizing its assets and capacities. Zakani emphasized that the goal of this plan is to prevent unreasonable and unrealistic prices in the housing market. He added: "We want to create conditions that allow individuals looking to buy a home to do so easily and with confidence."

Professional Renting for Tenants
This program also anticipates that individuals seeking to rent housing will benefit from professional renting models. This means that the option to rent a residential unit for three, four, or five years, with a gradual increase in rent that is proportional and lower than the inflation rate, will be available to them. Zakani introduced this approach as a solution for stabilizing prices in the housing market and stated that this plan could have a positive impact on the entire market.
He also noted that this program is designed to create a sustainable and accessible housing market for all segments of society and can help address housing issues in the capital. Zakani continued: "By implementing this plan, we hope to meet the real needs of the people and provide better living conditions in Tehran."
This program, which seems to be considered a new initiative in urban management in Tehran, could also serve as a model for other cities. Zakani also stressed the importance of cooperation among all relevant entities in this regard and stated that without community collaboration and participation, achieving these goals will be difficult.
