Phase Six of South Pars Gas Field, as the first complete gas row to return to production this year, is in the process of completing its reconstruction and rehabilitation stages. Saeed Tavakoli, CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company, pointed out that the enemy's attacks on the gas facilities of South Pars on March 18 last year resulted in damage to Phases Three, Four, Five, and Six, leading to approximately 230 million cubic meters per day of the country's gas processing capacity, equivalent to one-third of the country's gas production, being taken offline.
Planning to Restore Production Capacity
Tavakoli added that to compensate for some of this lost capacity, an early production plan was put into action alongside safety measures and debris removal. In this context, part of the lost capacity was returned to production using the spare capacities of other refineries in South Pars and other locations.

He stated that in the first phase, early production was planned for four phases, aiming to restore about 106 million cubic meters per day, noting that so far three phases have entered the production cycle, with their commitment being around 94 million cubic meters per day. However, in practice, nearly 100 million cubic meters per day of capacity has returned to the production cycle through this route.
Formation of an Executive Reconstruction Task Force and Division of Responsibilities
Tavakoli also announced the formation of an executive task force for the reconstruction of the damaged refineries, stating that the first meeting of this task force was held on April 6. This task force is responsible for approving operational strategies, determining financial models and project financing, managing and controlling the reconstruction process, and reviewing contractor proposals.
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company further explained that the reconstruction of Phases Three and Five has been assigned to the National Iranian Oil Company, while Phases Four and Six have been entrusted to the National Iranian Gas Company. Despite the fact that refinery construction is not part of the main mission of the National Iranian Gas Company, due to its specialized capabilities and experience, the responsibility for the reconstruction of Phases Four and Six has been given to this company.
Details of Reconstruction Operations and Financing
Tavakoli announced the timeline for the return of the refineries to the production cycle, stating that the third row of Phase Six will be the first complete gas row to return to production this year. Following that, the fourth row of Phase Four, the first row of Phase Four, and then the first row of Phase Six will gradually enter the production cycle.
He also mentioned the holding of 24 decision-making meetings of the executive reconstruction task force and reported the completion of debris removal operations at Phase Six about two weeks ago. Additionally, the rehabilitation and enhancement of unit efficiency are also on the agenda.
Tavakoli emphasized that due to limited internal resources, an investment model and the use of foreign capital have been considered for financing the reconstruction projects. Contracts are being pursued based on EPCF (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Financing) contractual models.
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company added that management dashboards have been established for continuous monitoring of the reconstruction process, and the progress of early production and reconstruction operations is being monitored daily.
