Oil prices fell on Friday after comments from Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stating that no attack on Iran would occur before the midterm elections. These remarks alleviated concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East and their impact on the oil market.
Crude Oil Rates and Their Effects
Brent crude oil for December delivery fell by 0.8 percent to $103.45 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery decreased by 0.7 percent to $90.86 per barrel. Despite this decline, prices remain influenced by disruptions in oil supply in the Middle East and the potential for new disruptions on the Gulf Coast due to Hurricane Isaias.

Oil Supply Disruptions in the Middle East
Recent news indicates that Iranian attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz have reached their highest level since the onset of the US-Iran war in February. This situation has significantly reduced oil transport levels in the region, resulting in price increases.
Ongoing conflicts between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have raised further concerns about oil supply disruptions in this region, particularly in the Red Sea. Although oil prices fell earlier in the week due to positive Saudi oil export data, concerns about the impact of Hurricane Isaias on oil production on the Gulf Coast continue to affect the market.
According to available information, Hurricane Isaias, which is strengthening, is expected to reach the Gulf Coast in the coming days. This storm could lead to temporary shutdowns of oil and gas facilities in the region. Estimates suggest that about 1.28 million barrels of oil per day, equivalent to 63 percent of daily oil production on the Gulf Coast, have been disrupted due to this storm.
In total, 121 oil platforms have been evacuated, and about 57 percent of daily natural gas production has also been affected. This situation highlights the significant impacts that natural events can have on the oil and gas market.
