Challenges and New Goals of the Ministry of Oil
Currently, the Ministry of Oil faces multiple challenges, including declining oil production, international sanctions, and the need to attract foreign investments. In his initial meetings, Javad Owji pointed out that one of his main priorities in his new position will be to increase daily oil production to 4 million barrels per day and to develop new oil fields. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening oil and gas exports and stated that he would strive to increase Iran's share in the global energy market.
In this regard, he mentioned the development of the West Karun oil fields and the Azadegan oil field, which have high production capacities and can significantly contribute to increasing the country's oil production. For example, the Azadegan oil field alone has a daily production capacity of 600,000 barrels of oil, and with the necessary investments, this amount can be significantly increased.
Javad Owji also stressed the necessity of cooperation with neighboring countries and attracting foreign investments for the development of oil and gas projects. He believes that by creating a suitable environment, it is possible to facilitate investment conditions and encourage foreign companies to participate in the country's oil projects.
Finally, Javad Owji expressed hope that during his management, he could take effective steps towards achieving the overarching goals of the Ministry of Oil by addressing the current issues in the oil industry.
