The ammonia dual-fuel vessel Terra Clove was named by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) yard in Ulsan, South Korea. With a capacity of 93,000 cubic meters, this vessel is EPS's first ammonia dual-fuel vessel and also the first new commercial dual-fuel ammonia vessel registered under the Singapore flag.
Technical Specifications of the Vessel
The Terra Clove is equipped with the first ammonia dual-fuel marine engine from Everllence, which successfully passed factory acceptance testing in April 2026. This vessel is the result of a collaboration initiated in June 2022 by MPA, EPS, HHI, and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to develop an ammonia dual-fuel gas carrier under the Singapore flag. Terra Clove is the first of two similar vessels being built by HHI for EPS, both of which will be registered under the Singapore flag.

Application and Safety
The Terra Clove is designed for transporting ammonia as cargo and using it as a propulsion fuel, incorporating special systems for managing ammonia fuel, maintenance, and safety. The vessel is expected to be delivered in November 2026 after upcoming sea trials.
The MPA, as the Singapore flag authority, has closely collaborated with EPS, HHI, ABS, and other industry partners on the vessel's technical and regulatory compliance. This includes reviewing the vessel design in accordance with relevant International Maritime Organization (IMO) guidelines and participating in hazard identification and operational capability studies. MPA has also shared its experiences from previous ammonia trials to support the development of safety procedures and crew preparedness.
Mr. Ang Wei Kiong, CEO of MPA, stated: "The development of new technologies often comes with some uncertainties. Terra Clove demonstrates that by bringing together expertise from the maritime value chain, we can address these uncertainties and investment risks and assure partners that we can move forward together. We hope that the successful development of this vessel will build greater confidence in ammonia as a marine fuel in the industry."
Mr. Cyril Ducau, CEO of EPS, also remarked: "The naming of Terra Clove is a significant milestone in making ammonia an acceptable marine fuel. Our priority is to ensure its safe and practical operation. With the regulatory guidance from MPA and the support of HHI, ABS, Everllence, and our other partners, we are building the expertise and capabilities necessary to advance the safe adoption of ammonia as a marine fuel."
