Mohammad Reza Aref, the First Vice President, introduced 117 technological projects aimed at increasing oil production and reducing energy imbalance at the special technology development headquarters meeting. These proposed packages were prepared in collaboration with 42 different organizations and aim to enhance the resilience of the oil and gas industry and utilize modern technologies in this field.

Main Objectives of the Projects

Increasing oil and gas production, completing the value chain of the refining industry, addressing gasoline and diesel imbalance, and revitalizing the petrochemical industry are among the main focuses of these projects. The goal of increasing crude oil production by at least 250,000 barrels per day through the provision of drilling rigs and related equipment for oil well operations is one of the key objectives of this program.

This initiative is also expected to foresee an increase of $5 billion in the country's foreign exchange revenues and will help enhance the efficiency of oil fields through the use of new technologies in production.

Pressure Enhancement of the South Pars Field

In the pressure enhancement section of the South Pars field, various contracts have been signed for the design and development of various in-well turbines and compressors. These projects, which are set to be operational by the decade of Fajr, will help maintain daily production of over 700 million cubic meters of gas from the South Pars field. It is estimated that the implementation of these projects will generate $500 billion worth of excess gas production over 40 years.

Additionally, in line with organizing flare gases, using new technologies will increase the annual gas supply by 8 billion cubic meters, and this action will support non-oil exports by $1 billion.

Base Oil Production and Improvement of Oil Product Quality

To enhance the quality of oil products, various projects are underway at the country's refineries, leading to the production of Group 3 base oil. This initiative is being undertaken for the first time in the country, and with its production development, the amount of imports of this product will decrease.

It is also anticipated that by the end of the seventh development program, the production of fuel oil will decrease by 49 million liters, and the quality of this product will improve.

Energy Savings and Consumption Management

Energy efficiency projects in the production and consumption chain will enable an annual saving of 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas. These projects will help reduce gas consumption at gas pressure boosting stations and South Pars refineries.

Mohammad Reza Aref emphasized the importance of preparing a comprehensive package for energy consumption savings at this meeting, stating: "The oil and gas industry must be pursued as a national commitment, and increasing productivity should lead to poverty reduction. These projects should not merely be regarded as an organizational duty."
