Masoud Pezeshkian, during a cabinet meeting, emphasized the necessity of conservation and reducing energy consumption in the country by implementing a one-day-a-week car-free plan. He pointed out that encouraging the general public to walk, use public transportation, bicycles, and electric motorcycles should turn into a widespread public movement and social participation.

Essential Measures for Reducing Energy Consumption

Pezeshkian further referred to launching public services for offices, changing working hours, merging administrative buildings, and closing unused buildings, stating that these actions should become a public movement. He also emphasized the need to utilize the capabilities of NGOs, mosques, Friday prayer leaders, cultural institutions, and popular mobilization for promoting the culture of reducing energy consumption.

The Necessity of Utilizing Social and Cultural Capacities

Pezeshkian added: "We must utilize all social and cultural capacities to neutralize the enemy's conspiracies and prevent the wastage of energy resources." These statements come at a time when the country faces serious challenges in managing energy consumption and requires serious and effective actions.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President outlined the achievements of his recent trip to India, participation in the BRICS summit, and bilateral meetings with the presidents of the participating countries. Additionally, the cabinet reviewed the latest status of actions and executive programs of the relevant agencies and discussed the most important issues facing the country.
