Mahmoud Reza Taheri, the Deputy for Evaluation and Compliance of the National Standards Organization of Iran, announced in an interview on Wednesday that the customs clearance time in Bushehr has been reduced to 1.2 days and to 7 days nationwide. This decision was made following the actions of the emergency committee in the early days of the 12-day war, aimed at preventing delays of goods in ports and customs while continuing to control and assess quality.
New Customs Clearance Method
Taheri stated that in the new method, goods are transferred to the importer’s warehouse with the commitment of the CEO that they will not be consumed, and evaluations are conducted under the supervision of inspection companies. After receiving the test results, permission to market is granted. This action is aimed at reducing customs clearance times while simultaneously protecting consumer rights, and it has been emphasized that there will be no compromise on quality.

He also announced the revision of the customs clearance method for seafarers' goods and mentioned that one of the existing challenges is the repeated testing of the same product when imported by different traders. For this purpose, the use of "type approval" with the capability to be utilized in all provinces has been put on the agenda.
Importance of Standards in Industry
Taheri, referring to Bushehr's role in drafting this executive method, noted that the initial draft for seafarers' trade and border trade has been prepared in this province and, after integrating the views of other provinces, has been communicated by the organization’s headquarters. He emphasized that standards should become an organizational culture, and producers should pursue quality and customer satisfaction beyond legal obligations.
The Deputy for Evaluation and Compliance of the National Standards Organization of Iran also added that strengthening factory standards can be a way to enhance quality and competitiveness in the market. Producers should pay attention to standards not only due to legal requirements but also to gain consumer trust and maintain market presence.
He stated that standards are the foundation of public health and safety, expressing that consumers choose products based on the credibility of the standard mark, and the primary goal of the National Standards Organization is to ensure community health. The formulation of technical requirements related to health, safety, and the environment is done on this basis.
In conclusion, Taheri referred to the alignment of technical requirements with regional countries and target export markets, mentioning Chapters 4 and 5 of the trade agreement with Eurasia as technical regulations. He also emphasized the necessity of active participation of economic actors in decision-making, stating that no executive method has been formulated or approved without the presence of representatives from relevant organizations.
