KR (Korean Register) has recently granted an Approval in Principle (AIP) license to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for the construction of a new 50K LPG vessel. This vessel, with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters, is designed to meet the diverse needs of the mid-range LPG shipping market.
Details of the 50K LPG Vessel Design
LPG carriers require precise control of temperature and pressure to keep the LPG cargo stable during storage and transportation. The new 50K design fills the gap between the 45K and 60K designs and is engineered to balance loading efficiency and operational economics. This vessel has the capability to adapt to a wider range of cargo volumes and trading patterns.

The 50K LPG vessel features independent type A tanks that store LPG separately from the vessel's hull structure, enabling stable storage and transportation of gas at low temperatures. These features allow the vessel to operate with greater safety and efficiency.
Developments in the LPG Shipping Market
