Kazem Jalali highlighted Iran's vast energy reserves and its effective role in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, calling the active presence of the Iranian delegation led by Masoud Pezeshkian, the President, at this summit very important.

Iran's Role in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum

The Islamic Republic of Iran is recognized as one of the founding members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). Seyyed Mohammad Hossein Adeli was elected as the first Secretary-General of this forum from our country, and for this reason, Iran's share and role in this cooperation mechanism is very significant.

Jalali stated: "Iran, as a country with extensive natural gas reserves, has the right to actively participate in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum. The President of Iran will attend the eighth summit of this forum today (Tuesday, November 5), and prior to that, Hamid Bourd, the caretaker of the Ministry of Oil, participated in the ministerial meeting of the forum held on Monday (November 4)."

Development of Iran-Russia Relations

Jalali emphasized: "The President's trip to Russia, as our friendly country, is of great importance, and with this perspective, Iran's participation in the meetings hosted by this country is at a high level." In this summit, in addition to giving a speech, the President of Iran will have bilateral meetings, especially with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia.

In this meeting, significant progress in developing relations between the two countries, especially in joint projects such as the North-South corridor, will be discussed and reviewed. Jalali clarified: "For example, in the North-South corridor, a stronger momentum should be created, and with the energy that the Presidents of the two countries will give to the relations, cooperation in this sector and the energy field, especially in the plan for transferring gas from Russia to Iran, will accelerate further."

Achievements of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum

The twenty-eighth ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum was held on Monday (November 4) in Moscow. The eighth summit of this forum, with the presence of the leaders of the member countries and their high-ranking representatives, is being held today (November 5) in Moscow. This summit provides an opportunity to discuss strategic issues in the gas industry and strengthen cooperation among gas-producing and exporting countries.

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum consists of 12 main members, which together hold about 70% of the world's proven natural gas reserves, 38% of commercial gas production, and 42% of global gas exports. The share of these countries in liquefied natural gas exports is also estimated to be around 47%.
