The number of active oil and gas drilling rigs in the United States has decreased to 598, according to newly released data, indicating an increase of 49 rigs compared to last year. This decline in drilling rigs has occurred due to falling oil prices and market conditions.

Increase in Oil Rigs

Among this number of active rigs, the number of oil rigs has increased to 456, which is 34 rigs more than the same period last year. According to published statistics, the number of gas rigs has also decreased to 133, which is 15 rigs more than last year. Additionally, the number of miscellaneous rigs has remained stable at 9.

Crude Oil Production and Prices

According to recent data, U.S. crude oil production for the week ending September 25 reached 13.955 million barrels per day, showing an increase of 0.016 million barrels compared to the previous week and 450,000 barrels more than last year. This increase in production comes as EIA data indicates a rise in crude oil production, especially in major fields like the Permian Basin, where the number of active rigs has remained stable at 270, which is 19 rigs more than last year.

In the Eagle Ford field, the number of active rigs has decreased for the second consecutive week to 49, which is 4 rigs more than last year. Meanwhile, oil prices have faced a decline with the release of this data. Brent oil prices have fallen to $101.10, and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) prices have decreased to $90.50.

Given these developments, the oil and gas market in the United States is significantly influenced by global prices, and these changes could have important implications for the oil industry in the future.
