Majid Najarian, the project manager for the development of the Cheshmeh-Khosh, Dalpari, and Paydar Shargh oil fields, reported a new experience in the oil industry by operating electric submersible pumps (ESP) with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters per day. These pumps were employed to respond to the high flow rate of the well and to provide the necessary hydraulic pressure after conducting engineering studies and assessing the reservoir and selected well conditions.
Technical Details and Pump Design
Najarian emphasized that the nominal capacity of 2,000 cubic meters per day is equivalent to about 12,500 barrels per day, and in the design of this system, the number of stages was determined based on the required flow rate and head, and the geometry of the internal components of the pump was optimized to achieve suitable performance at high flow rates.

The selection of the well was based on technical and production criteria, which was one of the main requirements for carrying out this operation, and the combination of these studies and technical considerations has enabled effective use of the pump's high capacity. According to Najarian, the volumetric capacity of 2,000 cubic meters per day places this equipment in the category of high-flow pumps, and the correct selection of the well, along with the appropriate design of the pump components, plays a significant role in the effective utilization of this capacity.
A New Experience in the Oil Industry
Najarian also emphasized that the execution of this operation has created a new experience in the use of high-capacity ESP equipment in the country's oil industry, and the technical knowledge gained from it can be utilized in the design and implementation of similar projects. The use of advanced artificial lift technologies alongside detailed engineering studies and the selection of solutions suitable for the conditions of each well are among the approaches of this project to support sustainable production and optimal utilization of field capacities.
The Cheshmeh-Khosh, Dalpari, and Paydar Shargh fields are located in the west of the country and are operated by the West Oil and Gas Company. The Cheshmeh-Khosh field is situated in the south of Ilam province and the northwest of Khuzestan province, and these three fields have been in the production cycle since 2011. According to published reports, the production of these three fields is expected to sustainably reach 120,000 barrels of crude oil per day by 2025.
The development of the fields aims to increase production and improve the utilization of reservoir capacities, and various actions have been taken to increase and stabilize production in this project.
