The Ilam Gas Refinery, as one of the important centers for natural gas production in the country, is implementing new programs to improve efficiency and reduce losses. Masoud Marashdi, the CEO of this refinery, spoke with our reporter about the efforts of this organization to increase gas production and optimize its consumption.

Safety Standards and Stringent Controls

Marashdi began by emphasizing the importance of safety standards during major repairs, stating: "We never sacrifice safety for the speed of operations, and the absolute priority is to return our employees home safely." He emphasized that all work stages are under strict supervision of HSE guidelines and the refinery's work permit system. Before any action, environmental risks are identified and operational permits are issued.

The CEO of Ilam Gas Refinery also mentioned stringent controls over equipment insulation, gas measurement, lockout/tagout systems, and safety in working at heights, stating: "These activities are monitored in real-time."

Consumption Management and Production Balance

Marashdi continued by discussing how to establish a balance between production and consumption, stating: "To reduce pressure on the network, special programs must be implemented simultaneously in both consumption and production areas." Reforming consumption culture with an approach to optimal resource use and promoting the use of low-consumption gas appliances are among the main priorities of this refinery.

He emphasized the need to correct losses in the distribution network, saying: "Identifying leaks and accurately monitoring unaccounted gases is an effective step in optimizing the network."

Production Increase Programs and Renewable Energies

Marashdi added about the production programs at Ilam Refinery: "Implementing production increase programs while simultaneously reducing internal consumption in production units is a key solution for increasing efficiency." According to him, production units consume electricity, gas, and steam, and pressure can be reduced by replacing renewable energies.

The CEO of Ilam Gas Refinery mentioned examples of this planning: "Constructing solar power plants instead of generating electricity from gas fuel in turbines and producing steam from combustion gases (using HRSG equipment) instead of using gas-fired boilers are effective methods for reducing internal consumption and increasing the country's gas production capacity."
