Gdańsk Port continues its success by recording cargo traffic of over 8 million tons in August 2026. From the beginning of this year until the end of August, 57.7 million tons of cargo have been handled at this port, showing a 10 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Continuous Growth and Progress
This historic record in cargo traffic is mainly due to the increase in the handling of general cargo and liquid fuels. After reaching 7.9 million tons in July, Gdańsk Port successfully crossed the 8 million ton mark in August, indicating a 13.3 percent growth compared to last year.

Cargo Classification and Increased Traffic
The handling of general cargo at this port increased by 21 percent to nearly 470,000 tons more than August last year. Additionally, the amount of containers handled has increased by 15 percent, and the number of TEUs has also grown by 16 percent. Liquid fuels reached 3.9 million tons with a 5 percent increase, accounting for nearly half of the total cargo handled in August. The highest percentage increase in handling was recorded in ore, which rose by 311 percent. In contrast, the only cargo group that saw a decrease was other major cargoes, which experienced a 12 percent decline.
Gdańsk Port is on track to achieve a new record in cargo traffic. The volume of liquid fuels has consistently remained around 26 million tons since the beginning of the year, with general cargo in second place at 20.8 million tons. If this upward trend continues, 2026 could bring better results for Gdańsk Port compared to last year.
Dorota Pich, Chairwoman of the Board of Gdańsk Port, stated: "Crossing the 8 million ton mark in one month is a significant achievement for Gdańsk Port. It shows that operational investments in port infrastructure directly contribute to increasing operational capacity and meeting market needs. This result is not only related to numbers but also reflects the hard work of many individuals, operators, and companies active in the port and its surrounding network. We are particularly pleased to see this growth across various cargo categories. This indicates that Gdańsk Port is strengthening its position as a key freight hub and a logistics center of major economic importance for Poland and the Pomerania region."
