Ground Control has recently been selected as one of three qualified vendors in the DNK tracking program (Den Norske Kriegsforsikring). This program is designed to address the increasing threats posed by jiggering and GNSS fraud in maritime transport in high-risk areas, including the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf.
Replacement of the Raptor Program
The DNK tracking program replaces the previous Raptor scheme and brings a multi-vendor initiative that allows member organizations to choose solutions based on their operational needs. This change helps program members benefit from more up-to-date technologies that meet their specific requirements.
RockFLEET Assured System
The RockFLEET Assured system, developed by Ground Control, is a high-quality marine tracker that includes Iridium satellite positioning and timing. This system provides independent and reliable position information when GNSS signals are disrupted. Additionally, it offers bridge integrity alerts, two-way satellite messaging, and complete fleet visibility through the Cloudloop tracking platform.
RockFLEET Assured easily integrates using standard NMEA protocols, allowing vessels to implement it seamlessly into their existing bridge systems. This feature makes the adoption of this system easier for ships, enabling them to achieve a reliable tracking system in unsafe maritime conditions.
Responding to Increasing Threats
Alastair McLeod, CEO of Ground Control, stated that "jiggering and GNSS fraud have become ongoing operational realities, especially in contested maritime areas this year." He added that maritime transport is now facing active and increasing threats regarding position reliability in high-risk waters.
McLeod also highlighted the importance of collaborating with DNK, saying: "Our partnership with DNK enables ship operators to maintain their positioning and situational awareness where GNSS is not reliable. We are pleased to assist DNK members in strengthening the resilience of their positioning, navigation, and timing infrastructures."
Operational in High-Risk Waters
The RockFLEET Assured system is currently operational on commercial vessels in high-risk waters and integrates with the DNK war risk insurance framework. This integration provides member organizations with a practical and proven approach for independent position verification. This not only enhances maritime security but also improves operational efficiency.
