Farhad Shahroki, in an interview with Shana news agency, referred to the collaboration between the Ministry of Oil and the Islamic Consultative Assembly, particularly the Energy Commission, stating that this interaction has been pursued in the fourteenth government in a professional, expert, and based on direct dialogue.
Continuous Presence and Specialized Reports
Shahroki added: The presence of the minister and senior managers of the Ministry of Oil in the meetings of the Energy Commission, the provision of specialized reports, responding to demands, and jointly reviewing issues in the oil, gas, refining, and distribution sectors have created a suitable environment for bringing the legislative process and oversight closer to the realities of the energy industry.

The Vice Chairman of the Energy Commission emphasized that this constructive interaction never means that the Parliament loses its independence and oversight responsibility. According to him, optimal interaction makes sense when the government sees the Parliament not as a supervisor but as one of the pillars of governance and policymaking in the country.
The Necessity of Investment in the Energy Industry
Shahroki continued: Energy is not just an economic sector; it is directly linked to national security, industrial production, household welfare, employment, and the economic resilience of the country. Therefore, any persistent disruption in the balance of energy production and consumption can transfer its effects to other sectors of the economy and people's lives.
He emphasized the necessity of extensive investment in upstream oil and gas, the development of joint fields, managing the pressure drop in gas reservoirs, and increasing the recovery factor, stating that these issues require cohesive and long-term governance.
Shahroki also pointed to the importance of reducing the gap between law, decision, and implementation, stating that the Parliament has the duty to enact precise, sustainable, and enforceable laws, and the government must provide clear, scheduled, and quantitative indicator-based executive programs.
The Seventh Development Plan and Its Role in the Energy Industry
He clarified: The Seventh Development Plan is a key document for progress in this area, with its energy sector provisions outlining a clear path for increasing oil and gas production, managing consumption, and developing investment. Therefore, the full implementation of the Seventh Plan should become one of the most important axes of collaboration between the Ministry of Oil and the Energy Commission.
Shahroki also emphasized the necessity of establishing an Energy Optimization and Strategic Management Organization, stating that if this organization is implemented correctly, it can transform the economy of optimization projects.
The Vice Chairman of the Energy Commission concluded by emphasizing that the country needs synergy, accountability, and responsiveness, and both institutions must make energy sector decisions based on credible data, technical knowledge, and economic calculations.
