OÜ TS Shipping, a subsidiary of Tallinna Sadam, has signed a charter contract for the multipurpose icebreaker MPSV Botnica with the consortium Aibel Seatrium ANS to be used as a accommodation vessel for a project in the North Sea. This contract, which will commence in September 2026, is set for 30 days with options for extension.
Contract Details and Vessel Services
The MPSV Botnica, specifically designed for icebreaking operations and marine services, will provide icebreaking services from December 20 to April 20 in the coastal waters of Estonia, as per the agreement with the Estonian Transport Administration. This vessel can serve as a crucial backup in harsh weather conditions and will play a vital role in marine projects.
Tallinna Sadam's Role in the Maritime Industry
Tallinna Sadam, as one of the largest port complexes in the Baltic Sea region, plays a key role in the maritime industry by providing freight and passenger services. In addition to the ferry services offered by OÜ TS Laevad to the major islands of Estonia, the group is also active in chartering multipurpose vessels like Botnica for icebreaking and marine operational services in foreign projects. Furthermore, the Tallinna Sadam group, as a shareholder in the partner company AS Green Marine, also provides waste management services.
With this move, OÜ TS Shipping clearly demonstrates that it is advancing towards expanding its services and enhancing maritime capabilities. This contract not only helps increase the operational capacity of the company but can also improve working conditions in marine projects, particularly in challenging and demanding projects in the North Sea.
