Brullo Shipping Group, based in Rome, has signed a contract with Anhui Shipyard in China to accelerate its fleet modernization and replacement program. This agreement includes the construction of three 40,800 DWT tankers for the group's companies, Augustadue and Navalmed.
Contract Details and Tanker Specifications
The tankers will be designed based on the plans from the Shanghai Design and Research Institute (SDARI) and with the assistance of Brullo's technical team to meet the specific commercial needs of the company. The delivery of these tankers is planned for 2029. The new units are designed with very low fuel consumption and equipment aimed at reducing environmental impacts, incorporating innovative technological solutions that have attracted the attention of major industry operators.

Fleet Modernization Strategy and Sale of Old Vessels
Raffaele and Gabriele Brullo, members of the Brullo family, stated: “Advanced technology choices are accompanied by a robust strategy for fleet modernization and efficiency improvement, aimed at responding to the needs of an increasingly selective market.”
The order for three new tankers comes just weeks after the delivery of the Hiera M tanker, which was built under the Italian flag by Zhoushan Dashenzhou Shipyard. This tanker was constructed in compliance with the strictest international energy efficiency standards. Additionally, a similar vessel from the same yard was ordered in December 2025, with delivery scheduled for 2028.
Since 2025, in addition to the orders officially announced today, the Rome shipping group has been involved in the delivery of the Hiera M tanker and another vessel with a capacity of 13,000 DWT, scheduled for delivery in 2028. Furthermore, the Primo M vessel with a capacity of 18,500 DWT, built in 2025 and delivered in February of the same year, Ginostra M with a similar capacity built in 2024 and delivered in September 2025, and Alicudi M with a capacity of 9,000 DWT, built in 2019 and scheduled for delivery in February 2026, are part of the current fleet of this group.
In total, Brullo Shipping Group currently has a fleet of 17 vessels, and the continued choice of the Italian flag is another key feature of their strategy. In 2026, as part of the fleet modernization and sustainability strategy, the group will also sell three vessels that no longer meet their desired quality standards, including Rinella M, Basiluzzo M, and Panarea M.
In the superyacht sector, the group controlled by the Brullo family recently showcased two new yachts at the Cannes Yachting Festival, both designed and built by Filippetti Yachts.
