Seeq, a company specializing in industrial analytics, and Applied Computing, the developer of the foundational Orbital model for energy operations, have signed a business agreement aimed at combining the AI-driven detection capabilities of Orbital with Seeq's industrial analytics platform.
Initial Review and Orbital Capabilities
The Orbital model uses physics-based AI to identify equipment and process issues in complex industrial systems. Operational teams can utilize Seeq's analytical tools to investigate these findings, add operational context, and analyze factory data. This collaboration helps in anomaly detection and root cause analysis, assisting operators in improving efficiency, emissions performance, and reliability.

Initial Application and INSITE Platform
The first application of this collaboration relates to KBR's digital platform INSITE, designed for plant management. INSITE, supported by Orbital, provides technical and consulting services to the ammonia, petrochemical, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and oil and gas industries. Analysts at KBR's Innovation Studio in Bangalore will use Seeq's tools to investigate anomalies identified by Orbital and prepare reports and recommendations for clients.
Dr. Lisa Graham, CEO of Seeq, stated, "By combining physics-based AI and advanced industrial analytics, Applied Computing and Seeq can help operational teams turn complex data into faster and stronger decisions."
Dan Javons, President of Applied Computing, added that this collaboration "closes the communication loop between physics-based AI insights and the daily decisions that determine plant performance."
Bidirectional Integration and Implications
The two companies also have plans to explore a bidirectional integration between Orbital and Seeq to facilitate AI-based research and sharing. This initiative could lead to increased efficiency and reduced time needed for data analysis, ultimately improving overall performance in the energy industries.
The agreement represents a significant advancement in the use of modern technologies in the energy sector and the improvement of operational processes in this field. Given the challenges in the energy industry, such collaborations can provide effective solutions for enhancing productivity and reducing environmental impacts.
