Fuel oil inventory in the Fujairah Industrial Zone has increased by 5% in the first week of October 2023 compared to September, reaching 4.72 million barrels. This data is based on regional statistics and information from S&P Global. The significant increase in fuel oil inventory comes as the average oil inventory in Fujairah in October is reported to be the highest level since July.
Analysis of Fuel Oil Inventory Changes
In the first week of October, heavy and residual oil inventory increased by 228,000 barrels. However, the medium oil inventory decreased by 131,000 barrels, reaching 2.29 million barrels. These changes indicate fluctuations in oil inventory in the market and the need for careful monitoring in this area.

Fuel Oil Imports and Exports
In October, Fujairah has averaged 152,000 barrels per day of fuel oil imports, an increase from 133,000 barrels per day in September. Russia leads with a 53% share of imports, followed by Saudi Arabia with 46%. Additionally, fuel oil exports from Fujairah have increased to 409,000 barrels per day, showing a significant rise from 357,000 barrels per day in September. This has turned Fujairah into a net exporter, with exports exceeding imports by 257,000 barrels per day.
Moreover, Singapore accounts for 61%, China for 21%, and Taiwan for 16% of the fuel oil exports from Fujairah. However, access to bunker fuel in Fujairah is severely limited due to existing tensions between the United States and Iran and disruptions in shipping traffic from the Strait of Hormuz. This situation has caused uncertainty in the region and restrictions on the supply of all major grades of oil.
Overall, the boom in exports and the increase in fuel oil inventory in Fujairah indicate a favorable market condition and its impacts on the supply and demand balance in the region. These changes could have profound effects on global oil prices and energy policies in the area.
