The oil industry in Iran has paid special attention to maintaining and increasing oil production capacity in recent years as one of the main pillars of the country's economy. Particularly in 2024, crude oil production reached its highest record in over seven years with a 10% growth compared to the previous year.

Developments in the Fourteenth Government

According to assessments, the National Iranian Oil Company has achieved historical records by focusing on development projects and production maintenance plans. Hamid Bourd, the head of the Ministry of Oil, has announced that during this period, they have managed to break the crude oil production record and add about 200,000 barrels to the country's daily production capacity.

This increase in production is evident not only in the statistics but also in sustainable and value-creating production. In 2025, crude oil production will continue to grow by 3.5% compared to the previous year, indicating the stability and reliability of the extraction system.

Increase in Exports and Feedstock Supply

Reza Kheylaei, the manager of oil and gas production supervision at the National Iranian Oil Company, has stated that the produced crude oil not only fully supplies domestic refineries but is also exported to target markets. Since the beginning of the Fourteenth Government, about 230,000 barrels per day have been added to the country's crude oil production capacity.

This increase in production has resulted from development and corrective projects in upstream and surface facilities. Specifically, in the South Azadegan joint field, the launch of 28 new wells has added about 51,000 barrels to the production capacity daily.

The Role of Oil Fields in Production Growth

Joint oil fields, particularly the Azadegan field, are considered the main engine of this sustainable growth. Drilling 47 new wells in various areas has played a key role in increasing production. Additionally, the implementation of repair services and the rehabilitation of old wells has added about 49,000 barrels per day to the country's production.

In the Sepehr and Jofeir fields, drilling eight new wells has increased oil production by 30,000 barrels per day. These projects have been carried out under IPC contracts and have helped attract investment and transfer technology to the country's oil industry.

Processing and De-salting Projects

The National Iranian Oil Company has addressed processing bottlenecks by implementing large industrial projects in the processing and de-salting sectors. The construction and commissioning of the centralized de-salting unit in Ahvaz with a capacity of 250,000 barrels of salty crude oil is among the most important of these projects, providing the necessary infrastructure for processing the produced oil.

The completion of the Central Processing Unit of Azadegan (CTEP) with a final capacity of 320,000 barrels is also one of the significant events of this period. This unit has been designed and implemented to eliminate processing bottlenecks in the Azadegan field and has joined the production cycle.
