Crude oil prices today have decreased amid reports of new diplomatic efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East. Saudi, Turkish, and Pakistani officials have traveled to Tehran to discuss the prospects of ending the conflicts. Currently, Brent crude is priced at $114.85 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate oil is at $100.87 per barrel. This price drop comes after Brent crude was over $117 at the end of last week and West Texas was above $103.
Impact of Houthi Attacks and Tensions with Iran

Energy analyst and founder of SS WealthStreet, Sugandha Sachdeva, noted that "crude oil prices are witnessing a decline following the price increases of the past several months and after rising diplomatic hopes in West Asia." She added that this decline may be due to profit-taking by traders.

Prospects for Peace and Its Consequences
The impact of diplomatic efforts by Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan was neutralized by a CNN report suggesting a potential U.S. military strike on Iran within 96 hours of President Trump's order. The U.S. President announced at the end of last week that he might escalate tensions instead of negotiating. Meanwhile, the President of Iran, who hosted delegations from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, called for unity among Islamic nations and acting as "a single force" against threats. This unity is challenged as most Gulf countries are U.S. allies, which has led them to be targeted by Iran earlier this year.
Overall, the chances of reaching a peace agreement in the near future still seem very slim. This issue previously prompted the International Energy Agency to warn that disruptions in global energy supply due to the war will continue into next year.
