Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, in his latest nighttime address warned that Russia is planning to expand the war to other countries. He referred to information indicating that Moscow intends to spend $12 billion next year on producing jet-powered drones and other munitions.
Increase in Russian Attacks on Infrastructure
Following Russian attacks, especially at midnight on September 27, at least four people in Ukraine lost their lives, including one in Kyiv and three in the Zaporizhia region. In Kyiv, a man was killed due to a Russian drone attack on a non-residential building in the Solomyanskyi district. This attack also led to a fire in a car repair workshop.
The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, announced that in another attack in the Shevchenkivskyi district, a woman and two 16-year-old children were injured and taken to the hospital. In the Zaporizhia region, in the village of Kamyshuvakha, a man died due to a Russian attack, and several houses were destroyed. Two others, a man and a woman, died in an attack on their vehicle in the village of Novotavryiskyi.
Pressure on the United States to Support Ukraine
Zelensky emphasized that the United States must exert more pressure on Russia, urging the Washington government to effectively confront Moscow. He also called for maintaining sanctions against Russia and entities that support its war efforts. Zelensky also referenced his meeting with Donald Trump, the President of the United States, and called for increased cooperation in the production of Patriot missiles for Ukraine's air defense.
Zelensky added that Ukraine has been able to intercept 55% of the Russian jet-powered drones launched in nighttime attacks on various cities. With the cold season approaching, Russian attacks on Ukraine have increased, and the country needs to strengthen its air defense.
Zelensky further stressed that Russia is looking for excuses to continue the war and there are no signs of this country’s willingness to end the conflict. He urged Western countries to remain united against this threat and cooperate with one another.
