The Yemeni Armed Forces issued a statement on Saturday, conducting 7 military operations simultaneously deep inside Saudi Arabian territory. These operations utilized ballistic missiles and drones against various targets in the country.
Targets of the Attacks
According to published information, these operations targeted King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Aramco oil company in Yanbu, Rabigh oil refinery, crude oil pumping stations, and the oil pipeline from east to west Saudi Arabia, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Najran Airport, and Khamis Mushait Air Base. These attacks were designed and executed to impact Saudi Arabia's critical infrastructure.
Details of the Operations
King Khalid Airport in Riyadh was targeted in two phases, and the attack on Aramco in Yanbu was carried out with high precision. The Yemeni army stated that operations against the Rabigh refinery and oil pumping and transfer facilities were successfully completed. Additionally, these attacks disrupted air traffic at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
The Yemeni Armed Forces noted that the attacks on Najran Airport and Khamis Mushait Air Base also resulted in direct hits. These operations have been described as a response to Saudi airstrikes against Yemen, as Saudi fighters have conducted over 100 airstrikes on Yemen in the past 24 hours.
These events indicate an escalation of tensions between Yemen and Saudi Arabia and have raised concerns about energy security and infrastructure facilities in Saudi Arabia. Given the importance of oil facilities to the Saudi economy, these attacks could have deeper impacts on oil markets and energy security in the region.
