West Oil and Gas Operating Company, by introducing new environmental programs, aims to reduce environmental pollutants and improve treatment processes in its operational areas. These projects are being implemented to protect natural resources and enhance environmental quality.
Contaminated Soil Treatment Projects
The establishment of a permanent bioremediation site for contaminated soils in the Dehloran operational area is one of these projects, aimed at creating sustainable infrastructure for treating contaminated soils in operational areas. This initiative is considered an innovative method for managing soil pollution and improving its quality.

The CEO of West Oil and Gas Operating Company also announced the implementation of projects related to wastewater management and treatment. The construction of an evaporation lagoon with a geomembrane layer and an oil-water separator pond, as well as the completion of the wastewater injection system in Naft Shahr, are other environmental initiatives of this company.
Use of Bioremediation Methods
West Oil and Gas Operating Company emphasizes the development of bioremediation methods as a new approach to cleaning oil pollution. This method helps reduce the need for transporting and burying contaminated soils and can carry out the cleaning process at a lower cost without transferring pollution to other areas.
In the cleaning process, after collecting and concentrating the soil at the treatment site, substrate preparation operations, including homogenization and mechanized tilling, are performed. With the determination of the initial pollution level, the phased spraying and moistening process using a biological solution begins.
The use of the innovative product BioS-1410 and adherence to 15-day cycles for spraying and resting microorganisms provide suitable conditions for the activity of bacteria that decompose hydrocarbon pollutants. This method has been well tested in the Naft Shahr operational area, and the results indicate its success; in a 90-day cycle, the concentration of hydrocarbon pollutants (TPH) was reduced by 93%.
Development of Specialized Knowledge and Employee Training
The CEO of West Oil and Gas Operating Company emphasized the necessity of developing specialized knowledge in the environmental field. The enhancement of the technical knowledge of HSE staff and operational areas through specialized bioremediation training courses is on the agenda. These actions are aimed at ensuring environmental sustainability in operational areas and more effective implementation of cleaning projects.
The Naft Shahr operational area is located 220 kilometers west of Kermanshah and 60 kilometers from Qasr-e Shirin, and this area operates under the management of the Central Iranian Oil Company as one of the operational areas of West Oil and Gas Operating Company.
