The Ukrainian government has responded to the request of Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, to hold early elections. Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced after Trump's remarks to reporters that he had a good conversation with Andy Burnham, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and they have begun preparations for an in-person meeting with him.
Trump's Criticism of Zelensky
Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized Zelensky in his statements, saying that he has had many opportunities to end the conflict. He emphasized that Ukraine needs a new leader who can reach an agreement with Russia. Trump has also asked Zelensky not to attack Russian oil refineries, presenting this issue as a major problem for the United States.

Trump said about this: "I told him (Zelensky): Do whatever you want, just don't attack the oil refineries. Damn it, he better stop that. I think it's time for Ukraine to elect a new president."
Consequences of Negotiations and Trump's Requests
These remarks come as negotiations between representatives of Washington and Ukraine in Miami have ended prematurely. Reports indicate that one reason for this early conclusion was an agreement between Putin and Trump regarding the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the United States. In this context, Trump has emphasized his new efforts to reach profitable agreements with Russia.
Kyrill Dmitriev, the special representative of the President of Russia, also reacted to Trump's remarks by saying that the time for elections in Ukraine is approaching and these efforts could serve as an incentive for achieving peace. He also hinted that for Zelensky, the "end of the game" has come.
Meanwhile, Grigory Karasin, the Vice Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of Russia, stated that Trump's request for a change of leadership in Ukraine reflects the views of the community in that country and may increase public discussions about Zelensky.
Zelensky's presidential term ends on May 20, 2024, and he had previously stated that holding elections in wartime is not possible. However, Trump's remarks and the resulting pressures could influence Zelensky's future decisions. In this regard, Zelensky hopes to receive fair support from the United States.
