The specialized meeting "Energy and the Future of Industrial Development in Iran," hosted by the Future Steel Think Tank, provided an opportunity to analyze the energy challenges of the country's large industries. In this meeting, the Strategy and Organizational Excellence Manager of Isfahan Steel Company emphasized the changing role of energy in the equations of global industrial competitiveness, stating that energy is no longer merely a production input, but has become a determining factor in technology selection, industrial location, the development of future technologies, and the formation of competitive advantages for countries.

Analysis of Energy Challenges in Large Industries

Milad Beigi, the Director General of Energy at the Research Center of the Parliament, elaborated on the growth trends of the steel and petrochemical industries and examined the solutions for "production resilience" in conditions of energy imbalance. His main focus was on enhancing productivity and identifying hidden value-added capacities in the production chain so that with the adoption of smart policies, the path for sustainable growth of the upstream industries in the coming years could be made smoother.

The Necessity of Changing the Industrial Development Model

Alireza Safari, an economic researcher, in this meeting, by analyzing energy imbalances, emphasized the necessity of transitioning from a development model based on cheap energy. He noted that to maintain production sustainability, the country's industrial policy must redefine the role of industries in energy supply and focus on producing higher value-added products, adopting a dual strategy for supply management and demand optimization.

The intensification of energy imbalance and the expansion of gas and electricity supply constraints for industries have made it even more necessary to reconsider the country's energy policies. Saeed Aghli, an advisor to the Deputy Minister of Planning at the Ministry of Oil, emphasized in this meeting that overcoming this challenge requires more than just increasing supply capacity; it necessitates enhancing productivity, reforming consumption patterns, and directing energy resources towards activities with higher added value.

Ultimately, this specialized meeting demonstrated that, given global changes and the need to optimize energy consumption, the country's large industries must improve their technologies and production methods to face upcoming challenges. These actions will not only help enhance Iran's industrial standing but will also pave the way for sustainable growth and increased competitiveness in global markets.
