The research project on enhanced oil recovery at the Danan oil field has concluded as one of the important measures to increase the oil recovery factor of this field. This project was defined and implemented by the Central Oil Fields Company of Iran with the aim of examining the capacity of various enhanced oil recovery methods and identifying suitable solutions to improve the oil recovery factor from the Danan reservoir.
Project Details and Objectives
Mohammad Sadegh Mehrjou, at the final meeting presenting the enhanced oil recovery study project at the Danan oil field, referred to the objectives of this project and noted that it includes a series of specialized tests and special studies. He explained that the laboratory activities of this project were conducted in three main areas: rock tests, fluid studies and tests, and enhanced oil recovery tests by the Oil Industry Research Institute.
Results and Achievements of the Tests
In these tests, the performance of the reservoir and the volume of increased oil recovery were examined in two general categories: injection of various hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon gases and different water injection compounds. The results obtained from these tests were integrated and combined with the results of studies and reservoir modeling. These actions have enabled the examination of the behavior of the rock and fluid in the reservoir, the evaluation of mechanisms affecting the increase in recovery, and the identification of various enhanced oil recovery methods.
The members of the research team presented the findings and results of the studies conducted at this meeting and discussed the technical aspects and methods under review. These reviews have contributed to evaluating enhanced oil recovery options for the Danan oil field.
Importance of Studies for Optimal Exploitation
The implementation of these studies is considered a key action in the field of development and optimal and sustainable exploitation of the Danan oil field, utilizing the technical and engineering capacities of the country to increase the oil reservoir recovery factor and improve understanding of reservoir behavior. The Danan oil field, located 30 kilometers southeast of Dehloran, is managed by the Central Oil Fields Company of Iran. The oil produced from this field is transferred via pipeline to the Dehloran operation unit, and its production operations are the responsibility of the West Oil and Gas Exploitation Company.
