The largest petrochemical reactor in Iran, weighing 500 tons and measuring 40 meters in length, has been completed in Fars Province. This equipment, constructed by the Fath Industrial Group, has a foreign counterpart that costs about four times more than the domestic production.
Construction Details and Features
This heavy and complex reactor is designed for use in polymer production processes and will be installed at one of the petrochemical complexes in the country after transportation. The large dimensions and high weight of this equipment have made its construction a serious challenge, and only a limited number of specialized companies in the world are capable of producing such equipment.

One of the key challenges in executing this project has been the construction and shaping of the reactor body. Thick steel plates have been used in this process, and shaping them requires heavy industrial equipment and high engineering capabilities. For this purpose, a heavy roll machine has been set up in Fars Province, capable of shaping plates with a thickness of up to 310 millimeters.
Impact on Costs and Employment
The development of the capability to manufacture this reactor will clearly reduce costs in the petrochemical industry. According to the manufacturers' information, foreign companies have requested about four times the current cost of constructing this reactor in Iran for similar equipment. Thus, localizing this equipment can reduce the petrochemical industry's dependence on foreign suppliers.
The construction of this reactor will also help create job opportunities in engineering, manufacturing, welding, and quality control. According to the announced information, about 5,700 people are working in the company that built this reactor, and there is a plan to recruit 228 new employees.
The construction of this massive reactor took about 14 months, and it is expected that the transfer and installation operations at the destination petrochemical complex will be completed within the next four months. If successfully commissioned, this equipment can help meet the petrochemical industry's need for heavy process equipment and play a significant role in increasing the production capacity of polymer products.
