Superior Energy Services has signed a final agreement to acquire Welltec International in order to expand its portfolio of well intervention technologies and completions. This move allows the U.S.-based company to increase its presence in international and offshore markets.

Background of Welltec and Existing Technologies

Welltec, headquartered in Denmark, provides well intervention technologies and expandable metal packer systems. The company operates in over 50 countries in key oil and gas regions and has approximately 1,000 personnel. With its Well Tractor technology, Welltec transports specialized tools into the depths of wells to modify, clean, cut, and retrieve well components, restoring production.

Details of the Agreement and Its Implications

With this acquisition, Superior Energy Services expects to increase its share in international and offshore markets and respond to customer needs regarding operational costs. Dave Lesar, Chairman and CEO of Superior Energy Services, stated that this acquisition will advance the company's strategy to expand its portfolio of differentiated well technology products, well intervention solutions, and specialized completion services.

The agreement is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. Following the completion of the acquisition, Welltec will be added to Superior's Wellsite Solutions segment.
