High-net-worth investors are paying special attention to oil and gas assets as the energy crisis continues to escalate. According to reports, the combined wealth of the world's billionaires is expected to reach $١٥.١ trillion by ٢٠٢٥, representing a ١٢.٨% increase from the previous year. This increase in wealth has been particularly influenced by the boom in technology and growth in investments in this sector.

Increase in investment in the oil and gas sector
According to a Wood Mackenzie report, merger and acquisition costs in the oil and gas sector reached their highest level in two years in the first half of ٢٠٢٦. The $٢٥ billion merger of Devon with Catterra Energy and Shell's $١٦ billion acquisition of ARC Resources are among the largest deals in this sector. Additionally, large trading companies and hedge funds are transitioning from trading to acquiring shale oil production assets in the United States.
For example, the Swiss trading group Gunvor is negotiating to acquire natural gas assets in the Haynesville shale from Silver Hill Energy Partners for $١.٢ to $١.٥ billion. Also, last year, Griffin Congress from Citadel moved to acquire Paloma natural gas, which has been valued at $١.٢ billion.
This indicates the market's willingness to seek investment opportunities in new areas, especially as energy prices are rising. With increasing military tensions in the Middle East, oil prices have been rising and have reached $١٠٥.٦١ per barrel.
