The Iranian economy has faced serious challenges in recent years, including extensive sanctions and trade restrictions. However, the country's economic activities have not completely halted, and the networks of production, distribution, trade, and services continue to operate.
Factors of Resilience in the Iranian Economy
Abdolnaser Hemmati, the Governor of the Central Bank, emphasized at the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund in Bangkok that the claim of the collapse of the Iranian economy is nothing more than an illusion. One of the most important factors contributing to the resilience of the Iranian economy is its diverse production and service sectors. Although oil and gas play a key role in providing the country's foreign exchange revenues, the entire economy is not limited to these sectors.

Agriculture, food industries, consumer goods production, metal industries, petrochemicals, and mining are among the sectors that meet domestic needs. Nearly 50 industries are listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange, and this diversity allows the economy to continue other activities in the event of restrictions in one sector.
Domestic Market and Experience in Facing Sanctions
The existence of a large domestic market and a wide network of small and medium enterprises are also considered other effective factors in the resilience of the Iranian economy. Many production units have been able to continue their activities under challenging foreign trade conditions, albeit at higher costs. Additionally, the long experience of the Iranian economy in facing sanctions has enabled businesses to adapt their methods of sourcing raw materials and transporting their products to new conditions.
Developing regional communications and utilizing alternative suppliers are other measures that businesses have taken to continue their operations. This experience does not mean that sanctions are ineffective, but it demonstrates the ability of certain sectors of the Iranian economy to find practical solutions to cope with external limitations.
Overall, a combination of domestic capacities, diversity of economic activities, the adaptability of businesses, and the continuity of basic services are the main factors in maintaining and continuing economic activities in Iran. These conditions allow the Iranian economy to leverage its capacities to continue operations and return to growth despite external pressures.
