The East Azerbaijan gas network, with an annual consumption of over 10 billion cubic meters of gas and a recorded daily peak consumption of about 50 million cubic meters, is preparing for the winter season. Alireza Sheikhi, the CEO of the East Azerbaijan Gas Company, referred to the specific needs of this province due to its cold climate and distance from the main gas supply lines, stating that East Azerbaijan's share of the total gas consumption in the country is over 7 percent.

Infrastructure Projects to Strengthen the Gas Network

Sheikhi, while explaining the most important ongoing infrastructure projects, added: This year, strategic projects including the construction of a 10-inch transmission line in Hashtrood, the feed line from Hoorand to Abshahmad, and the completion of the feed line in Marand are on the agenda. These projects will help sustainably strengthen the network in the cities of Hashtrood, Ajabshir, Maragheh, Marand, Hoorand, Kalibar, Khoda Afarin, and the surrounding villages.

Consumption Management and Network Stability

The CEO of the East Azerbaijan Gas Company emphasized the importance of real-time monitoring and winter configuration of the gas network, stating that all gas stations in the province have been equipped with online monitoring and surveillance systems. These systems continuously monitor gas pressure fluctuations and implement crisis management scenarios.

Sheikhi also mentioned consumption management as a safe password for winter, reminding that last year, with public participation in the "Two Degrees Lower" campaign and a 10 percent reduction in consumption, 475 million cubic meters of gas were saved in the province. This year, by implementing the "Every Home, One Warm Room" campaign and setting the comfort temperature between 18 to 21 degrees, the imbalance can be managed and network stability ensured.

He also referred to energy optimization with national plans such as upgrading boiler rooms and replacing high-efficiency heaters, adding that these measures will help reduce energy waste in the province.
