Nasrollah Pezhmanfar, Chairman of the Article 90 Commission of the Parliament, during his visit to the Khark oil terminal, emphasized the necessity of maintaining the operational capacity of this terminal and strengthening the infrastructure related to oil exports. He deemed it essential to maintain the readiness of the eastern and western docks, increase loading capacity, and address the condition of facilities and infrastructure, stating: “Maintenance of old and shared wells and resolving technical issues should also be given attention.”
Emphasis on Overhauls and Renovations
Pezhmanfar also stressed the need for major repairs and modernization of equipment. These actions are crucial for maintaining operational readiness and enhancing the infrastructure of the Khark oil terminal, considering its role in crude oil exports. Abbas Asadrooz, CEO of the Iranian Oil Terminals Company, also detailed the capacities and technical and geographical features of the Khark oil terminal during this visit, adding: “The geographical location of the area and its natural characteristics provide significant capacities for the establishment and operation of oil facilities.”

Investment Opportunities and Development of Domestic Capabilities
Asadrooz emphasized the importance of developing domestic capabilities in the oil industry equipment sector, stating: “Utilizing the capacities of domestic manufacturers and developing locally produced equipment is one of the important paths for enhancing the operational capabilities of the oil industry, and the Iranian Oil Terminals Company is pursuing this matter.”
The CEO of the Iranian Oil Terminals Company highlighted the importance of accuracy in measuring oil at the Khark terminal, stating: “Accurate measurement of oil is one of the crucial parts of the process of delivering and receiving oil shipments, and having knowledge and specialized personnel in this area is considered one of the important capacities of the Khark oil terminal.”
He also emphasized the necessity of continuous attention to the infrastructure and strengthening the existing capacities at the Khark oil terminal, saying: “Maintaining and enhancing the capabilities of this complex requires a long-term view of its infrastructure, equipment, and human capacities.”
Alongside the operational needs mentioned, the Iranian Oil Terminals Company has defined a range of investment opportunities in various sectors. These opportunities include the renovation of underwater pipelines from Genaveh to Khark and Asalouyeh and Azarbad. Technical evaluations of the lines, smart monitoring, and major repairs are actions planned to assess the condition of these infrastructures and plan their maintenance.
Renovation and major repairs of tanks and the development of fire alarm and extinguishing systems are also other areas related to the maintenance of facilities. Addressing these areas, in addition to maintaining the readiness of equipment, is important for protecting the infrastructure and managing operational risks.
