OPEC+, consisting of oil-producing countries, recently decided to maintain its oil production targets for next month without change. This decision was made under circumstances where some of these countries, especially in the Gulf, are facing serious challenges due to military disruptions and sanctions.
Impact of Wars on Oil Production
Due to recent military attacks by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, OPEC+ member countries have significantly fallen behind the set production amounts. Reports indicate that the export levels of these countries have fluctuated between 60 to 80 percent of their usual capacities in recent months. These disruptions have affected not only production but also the assessment of the production capacity of OPEC+ members.

This assessment is crucial for determining production quotas for 2027, but ongoing tensions in the region have created uncertainties in forecasting future production capacity.
Oil Production and Current Status of OPEC+
According to statistics, the seven main OPEC+ countries produced 25 million barrels of oil per day in August, which represents an increase of 630,000 barrels compared to July. However, this amount is still nearly 5 million barrels per day less than the production level before the war began in February. This production decline, especially considering OPEC+ targets for increasing production in 2026, indicates serious challenges in this area.
OPEC+ continues to impose production cuts of nearly 2 million barrels per day on most of its members. This action is aimed at controlling the market and maintaining prices. Additionally, the group is examining existing capacities to make decisions on how to allocate future production increases. Given the current conditions, it seems that no changes in production levels will occur before 2027.
The seven main OPEC+ countries include Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan, and Oman, which recently discussed the status of production and the oil market.
