OneCare Group will hold a webinar titled "From Policy to Action: Putting People at the Center of Maritime Excellence" aimed at examining how to turn maritime policies into meaningful outcomes for seafarers. This online session will last for 60 minutes on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11:00 Cyprus time.

Focusing on the Human Aspect of Policy Implementation

In line with the theme for the 2026-2027 World Maritime Day by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) titled "From Policy to Action: Empowering Maritime Excellence," the discussions in this webinar will focus on the human aspect of policy implementation and the gaps that may arise between policies and the realities faced by seafarers at sea.

This webinar will recognize the significant advancements made in the maritime industry. Many shipping companies have made substantial investments in areas such as mental health, welfare, safety culture, and reporting mechanisms. Nevertheless, the aim of the discussion is to explore how the industry can build on these advancements and ensure that policies, procedures, and support systems consistently deliver the desired outcomes at the ship level.

Examining Operational and Cultural Challenges

The webinar will discuss topics such as fatigue, rest hours, harassment, mental safety, and safety culture. The panel will examine whether shipping companies only measure the existence of policies or their effectiveness and how they can gain a better understanding of the real experiences of seafarers on board.

Fatigue will be one of the key topics of discussion. Despite specific rest hour requirements, the panel will explore why fatigue remains an operational concern and what actions beyond compliance records should be taken to understand the actual level of fatigue risk on ships.

The report of this webinar will be managed by Gisa Pardes, CEO of WellAtSea, part of the OneCare Group, and will include a panel featuring Olga Pavlova, Global Crew Operations Manager at NSB GROUP, Gowan Kale, Clinical Training and Special Programs Manager at OneCare Group, Captain Siva Shanongo, Chief Operations Inspector for Asia at RightShip, and other experts.
